World champion Miroslav Klose is the new coach of second division club 1. FC Nuremberg. This is what Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder has to say about it.
World champion Miroslav Klose (46) will be the coach of second division club 1. FC Nuremberg next season. This news surprised football Germany today (June 11, 2024). Now Markus Söder (57) has also reacted to the news. After all, the CSU politician is not only the Prime Minister of Bavaria, but also an avowed fan of the club.
On X, Söder shared the news from the sports magazine “Kicker”. “Miro Klose is a real bombshell,” he added. “That gives hope,” he congratulated the club’s sporting management on this “cool move.”
After his playing career, Miroslav Klose had already gained his first experience on the sidelines as an assistant to Hansi Flick (59) at Bayern Munich and as a coach in Austria. He was released from first division club SCR Altach in March 2023. Most recently, the record goalscorer of the German national team was also in talks with his former Italian club Lazio Rome.
“Name instead of class”: Criticism of Söder’s Nuremberg post
The comments on Markus Söder’s post are less enthusiastic about the “cool move” from Nuremberg. They point, among other things, to Klose’s poor points average as coach at SCR Altach. “With 0.83 points per game, a ‘real bombshell’,” writes one user. “Name instead of class,” adds another.
