Little Prince Louis is apparently eagerly awaiting the kick-off of the 2024 European Championship. Before the start of the tournament, the six-year-old sent a message to the English national team via his father.
Football fever runs in the blood of the British royals. Prince William is an avowed fan and his children have also inherited the love of the popular ball sport. Prince William is the president of the Football Association and gave a speech to the English national team shortly before their departure for Germany.
But the prince was not allowed to give this speech alone. When his children heard on the morning drive to school that their father would be speaking to football greats such as Harry Kane, they told him what he should please say to the team. Prince Louis had a very special tip, William revealed in his team speech: “I was on the way to school with the children this morning and said: ‘What should I say to the English team today?’ The best advice I can give you is to eat twice as much as you normally would.” This tip came from his youngest.
Prince William then had to introduce the team: “I then had visions of all of you running around the pitch with huge bellies and lots of stitches. So I think you should perhaps take my youngest’s advice with a pinch of humor, especially when it comes to the physio team.”
Harry Kane laughs at Prince Louis’ tip
Captain Harry Kane laughed at the six-year-old’s advice and said: “I know. We have to be careful with it. I don’t think the nutritionist is very happy with that advice, but it’s great to have the prince with us. He supports us so much and has been with us at a few training camps before the big tournaments. That gives us extra motivation.”
Prince William’s visit to the team was a surprise for the players and he gave a motivational speech. The Prince then reviewed the England national team’s planned line-up and said: “I have seen every single one of you play,” praising their performance on the pitch.
Prince William assured the team: “I’ll be watching every single game. We’re really into it, having a lot of fun and just wish you the best of luck, guys.” Harry Kane added: “He loves it. I think he’ll try to be at some games if he can, if the schedule allows. He’s a huge football fan, I think he’s made that pretty clear when he’s cheered on Aston Villa and now England.”
It is not yet known whether and when Prince William will be in the stadium at the European Championships in Germany and whether his kids will be allowed to accompany him.
