“Bridgerton” star Nicola Coughlan is being celebrated online for her response to alleged body shaming.
“Bridgerton” star Nicola Coughlan (37) is being celebrated for a counter to a comment that many observers see as hidden body shaming. The third season of the successful Netflix series focuses on Nicola Coughlan’s Penelope and her relationship with Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton, 31). There are also some quite explicit sex scenes to be seen. And there will be even more of them in the second half of season three, which will be released on Netflix on June 13th.
A “sneaky comment”?
At an event, one person commented on whether it wasn’t “very brave” of Nicola Coughlan to play the role of Penelope. A question that might not have been asked of a slimmer, classically beautiful actress. In any case, observers interpreted the sentence as a “sneaky comment” after a fan captured the moment.
Nicola Coughlan was hailed as an “icon” or even a “queen” for her reaction on X. Her answer was: “You know, it’s hard because I think that women with my body type, women with perfect breasts, don’t…” Coughlan didn’t get any further before the audience in attendance began to cheer.
Proud of her “perfect breasts”
The actress hinted that she is happy with her body. “I’m very proud to be a member of the perfect breast community,” she said. “And I hope you enjoy looking at them!”
Nicola Coughlan insisted on the revealing scenes. She even had more of them written into the script, as she revealed before the start of season three. The actress wanted to annoy all the critics who were picking on her body: “It felt like the biggest ‘fuck you!’ to all the many conversations that were going on about my body. It was incredibly empowering.”
