Actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson likes to dish out punishment in his action films. Now he has been injured during filming.
He’s flexing his muscles again: During the filming of his new movie “The Smashing Machine,” Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson (52) injured his right arm. In one, he looks a bit battered.
“Look at that thing right there,” says Johnson, showing his swollen right elbow in the Instagram clip while standing in his kitchen. “It looks like I have a melon in the lower part of my elbow. I got beat up pretty bad in our scenes today. And there might be some soft tissue damage. It’s a lot of fluid, we’ll see. I have to get the fluid out of it first before I can get any kind of MRI.” But the actor doesn’t want to seem squeamish.
Pain is part of life for “The Rock”
The Californian, who became known as a professional wrestler, remembers the advice of his father, the late Rocky Johnson (1944-2020). “He always said, ‘A day without pain is like a day without sunshine, boy,'” Dwayne Johnson tells his followers before asking them for advice on how to treat the injury. “I’ve had bruises in the past, I’ve had several injuries […]but if you have any advanced advice on good anti-inflammatories, please let me know.”
Johnson plays the wrestler and MMA fighter Mark Kerr (55) in “The Smashing Machine” directed by Benny Safdie (38). The production company A24 has touted the film as his “most dramatic role to date”. In addition to Johnson, Emily Blunt (41) will also appear in the film.
