Due to military service, the boy group BTS is taking a break as a group. The first of the seven members has completed his service.
Jin is the first and oldest member of the seven-member boy group BTS from South Korea to complete his compulsory military service. The 31-year-old singer was greeted by five of his bandmates at the gates of a military base on Wednesday after being discharged from the army, South Korean broadcasters reported. Jin had completed his 18-month service in an infantry division in Yeoncheon, north of the capital Seoul. The other band members J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook, who are also doing their military service, reportedly took time off to receive him. RM played the BTS hit “Dynamite” on a saxophone. Suga, who is doing alternative community service due to a previous injury, later joined the group as the seventh member at a private welcoming party.
Because of the long military service, the group is not expected to make a comeback before summer 2025. In 2022, the band countered rumors that they might break up after announcing a long break. BTS are currently considered the most successful musical formation in South Korean pop music, which is also known under the collective term K-Pop. The boy group stormed the charts with hits like “Dynamite” and “Permission to Dance”. BTS released their debut single “No More Dream” in June 2013.
