Russell Crowe said he was “a little uncomfortable” with the movie “Gladiator 2”

The actor played Maximus in Ridley Scott’s original “Gladiator” in 2000.

Russell Crowe shared his thoughts on the sequel to Gladiator of Ridley Scottadmitting that he feels “a little uncomfortable” with the fact that it is being done.

During a recent interview, the Oscar-winning actor said, “I feel a little uncomfortable with the fact that they’re making another one, because of course I’m dead and I don’t have a say in what’s made. But A couple of things I’ve heard tell me, ‘No, no, no, that’s not in that particular character’s moral journey.’‘. But I can’t say anything, it’s not my place, I’m two meters under the ground. “Then we’ll see what that’s like.”

Crowe played Roman general Maximus in 2000’s Gladiator. The film, also directed by Scott, follows his character as he sets out to exact revenge on the corrupt emperor who murdered his family and sent him into slavery.

“I reflect on how old I was when I made that movie and everything that came after, the doors that particular movie opened for me,” the Les Miserables actor continued. “I’m just being purely honest: there’s definitely a tinge of melancholy, a tinge of jealousy. “I remember when I had tendons.”

Paul Mescal on starring in Gladiator 2

In the sequel, Paul Mescal takes on the lead role of the adult Lucius, depicted in the original film as the young nephew of Commodus, the Roman emperor played by Joaquin Phoenix at that moment. Last year she told Esquire that the film is “definitely the biggest one I’ve ever done.”

“I’m very excited, but it’s hard to step away from the legacy of the movie a little bit,” Mescal explained. “I think it’s very well written and pays homage to the first one, but it’s something I think I can comfortably come into and make my own.”

When asked if he had spoken to Crowe about the original Gladiator, the Normal People star responded: “I don’t know what we would talk about. I would love to hear the stories of him during filming, but the character is totally separate.”

Gladiator 2which also stars Pedro Pascal, Denzel Washington, Joseph Quinn and Connie Nielsenwill hit theaters on November 22.
