Hunter Schafer Joins ‘Blade Runner 2099’ Series on Prime Video alongside Michelle Yeoh

The star of Euphoria and The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, Hunter Schaferhas been cast as co-star alongside Michelle Yeoh in the next television series Blade Runner 2099 of Amazon Prime Video.

The show is a sequel to the original movie blade runner and from the next movie, Blade Runner 2049.

What Blade Runner 2099 is about

The story is being kept under wraps and no details are available regarding Schafer’s character, but sources say Yeoh will play a character named Olwen, described as a replicant near the end of her life.

Ridley Scottthe mastermind behind the original 1982 sci-fi thriller blade runnerfirst announced that Blade Runner 2099 was in the works in November 2021, and Amazon revealed that it was in development on the platform in February 2022.

Silka Luisa serves as showrunner and executive producer on the project. Scott will executive produce alongside David W. Zucker and Clayton Krueger of Scott Free Productions.

The co-founders of Alcon Entertainment (which in 2011 secured the rights to produce Blade Runner prequels and sequels, starting with Blade Runner 2049 starring Ryan Gosling), Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson, also executive produce, as does Alcon television president Ben Roberts.

Film United is the production company for Blade Runner 2099 in Prague.

Schafer made her acting debut playing Jules opposite Rue de Zendaya in HBO’s Emmy-nominated drama Euphoria, and most recently appeared in Lionsgate’s “Hunger Games” prequel, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, as Tigris Snow.

Schafer can next be seen in Mother Mary of A24 next to Anne Hathway and Michaela Coelin Kinds of Kindness of Yorgos Lanthimos with Emma Stone and Jesse Plemmonsand starring in NEON’s horror thriller Cuckoo next to Daniel Stevens.
