Miles Teller (Top Gun: Maverick) will star in the remake of the film An Officer and a Gentleman from Paramount Pictures, the studio announced Friday.

The 1982 film, starring Richard Gere, Debra Winger and Louis Gossett Jr., follows a loner who sets out to finish his Marine Officer training while dealing with a tough-as-nails drill sergeant while also finding love with a local citizen. The film featured stellar performances from Gere and Winger and a scene-stealing performance from Gossett, who would win the Oscar for supporting actor.
