The AfD garnered 16 percent of the vote among 16- to 24-year-olds in the European elections, 11 points more than in 2019. The “Fack ju Göhte” actress sees a problem primarily in the media behavior of many people.
Actress Lena Klenke (“Fack ju Göhte”) has expressed her disappointment with the voting behavior of many young people in the European elections.
“I was very disappointed, but after all the forecasts it was unfortunately no longer surprising,” said the 28-year-old in an interview with the German Press Agency. She sees one reason for this in young people’s media consumption. “I don’t think it’s the lack of news consumption, but the wrong platforms.” She referred to content on social media platforms such as TikTok, where the AfD is constantly present. “Instead of the kids soaking up nonsense in front of their screens, we need to sit down at a table more and discuss politics and the like. That only happens very rarely in real life anymore,” said Klenke.
In the European elections last Sunday, 16 percent of participating 16- to 24-year-olds voted for the AfD – that was 11 percentage points more than in the 2019 European elections. Other parties suffered major losses. For example, the Greens, who were once considered a magnet for young people alongside the FDP and a guarantor of good climate protection policy, lost a full 23 percentage points compared to the 2019 election, landing at 11 percent in the age group.
Klenke has been committed to sustainability in the fashion industry for several years. The actress is best known for her roles in the Netflix series “How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast)” and the “Fack ju Göhte” films. From June 29th, she can be seen as Steffi Graf in the film “Perfect Match” on the streaming service Amazon Prime. It tells the fictional story of the love between tennis stars Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi.
