Every third Sunday in June, fathers are celebrated in Great Britain – including “Pa” Charles and “Papa” William.
The royals congratulated each other on Father’s Day with personal messages – and the youngest generation also joined in. “We love you, Dad. Happy Father’s Day,” was the caption on Sunday on the official X-account of Kensington Palace, alongside a photo showing heir to the throne Prince William (41) and his three children hugging on a beach. The photo was apparently taken this year by William’s wife Princess Kate.
The message is signed “G, C & L” – it comes from William’s children Prince George (10), Princess Charlotte (9) and Prince Louis (6). They also posted a heart emoji. It is the first time that a message from the siblings has appeared on Kensington Palace’s social media, wrote the newspaper “Telegraph”.
William had already addressed King Charles III. “Happy Father’s Day, Pa,” the monarch’s eldest son wrote on X. He also posted a picture of himself as a little boy playing ball with his father. The message is signed “W.” In Great Britain, Father’s Day is celebrated every year on the third Sunday in June.
William’s relationship with Charles (75) has reportedly become closer in recent years. On the other hand, the relationship with his younger son Prince Harry (39) is considered difficult. In several interviews and in his biography, Harry has repeatedly sharply criticized his father.
