Heinz Hoenig has woken up from his artificial coma. But the actor is “very limited,” as his manager reveals.
Concerns remain for Heinz Hoenig (72): The actor is waiting in a hospital in Berlin for a life-saving heart operation. After an initial important operation on his esophagus, however, the doctors had to put him into an artificial coma again. His manager Birgit Fischer-Höper has now given another update: Hoenig is currently awake, but needs to be artificially ventilated.
He needs artificial ventilation
The actor is therefore still in intensive care, says the manager: “Of course, this means he is very handicapped and limited. But otherwise he is aware of everything and is fully conscious.”
The operation on the aorta, where a bacterial infection has spread and damaged a stent that was inserted years ago, cannot take place. Hoenig is not stable enough. “He is still on artificial respiration. Once that is gone and he can be stabilized and rebuilt, then we can think about the other operation. But at the moment he has to recover and wait until his breathing improves again.” It is currently impossible to estimate how long that will take.
Annika Kärsten-Hoenig fears for Heinz Hoenig’s life
Heinz Hoenig was admitted to the Berlin clinic at the beginning of May with a life-threatening condition. In addition to the bacterial infection, a hole in his esophagus was also discovered, which had to be removed in an initial operation. His wife Annika Kärsten-Hoenig (39), with whom he has been married since 2019, has been fearing for the actor’s life since then, along with their children Juliano (3) and Jianni (1).
