For Roland Kaiser, money is no reason to show off. But he did treat himself to one thing after his hit “Santa Maria”.
Pop singer Roland Kaiser catapulted himself to the top of the charts in 1980 with his hit “Santa Maria.” And with the first big money he earned from it, he bought himself a great car, the 72-year-old told the German Press Agency in Hamburg. “I think I bought a used sports car, but it wasn’t even very expensive. It just looked good. That was basically it.”
One reason he has not spent more money on prestige objects is that he does not place any value on appearances. Kaiser, who lives in Münster, instead relies on safe investments and safe storage. “I have a family that I am responsible for. In that respect, I am a prudent person when it comes to spending money.”
Roland Kaiser is currently touring Germany, Switzerland and Austria as part of the tour “RK50 – 50 years – 50 hits – The big tour for the 50th stage anniversary”. On June 21st he will be in Hanover and on June 22nd in Rostock, and on July 6th he will be playing at the trotting track in Hamburg.
