The fourth part of the successful Minions and Felonius Gru series has more jokes, characters and crazy situations, but it lacks the tenderness of the previous ones.
At this point in the match, with three of the villain Gru and two of the minions, it could be assumed that “Despicable Me 4” can no longer offer too many surprises. The assumption is partially wrong. It is true that in terms of style, situations and forms of humor it does not innovate at all. But that is precisely what the public wants, because they love Felonius Gru and company as they are, and celebrate each film with the affection and enthusiasm of a nice reunion.. And in this case, for greater celebration, along with “more of the same” there are also more characters, more jokes, more nonsense, many more imitations and parodies than other times, and more well-entertaining action scenes. But there is less tenderness and little emotional force.
It is not appropriate to tell the story. We will only say who are the new members created by Ken Daurioscreenwriter of the previous five, and Mike White, another expert on drawn stories. First of all, the baby of the family, who has the character of him. Then, the bad guy with his girlfriend, his powers and his loyal cockroaches. That guy has hated Gru since they were both boarders at a school for villains. Nearby, the spoiled neighbor who wants to be bad, her parents who are good to her, another good girl who goes into the wrong hair salon, the old and bellicose school principal and a honey badger. Honey badgers are terrible, with a terrible character, but they melt for something sweet. And, finally, five minions that we already know but who now, victims of an experiment, are transformed into five megaminions with superpowers. As expected, they go out to do good, and logically they do bad.
You might also expect the yellows to be the life of the party, and they are (no one so far has protested the politically and cheerfully incorrect way they party). The point against: although they have some exclusive scenes for themselves, Lucy, the girls and the goat participate less than other times, which is frankly a shame. Luckily, any reproaches are forgotten before the joyous outcome of the adventure, which (we only anticipate this) takes place in the prison where all the bad guys from the previous films are held. Coherently, the closing musical theme is “Every Want to Rule the World”everyone wants to rule the world, and we won’t say who sings it.
Directors, Chris Renaudwho led the first two of “My Villain…” and Patrick Delage, animation director of the first. Music, Heitor Pereira, as usual. Dubbing direction for Latin America, Xóchiti Ugartewith the usual cast (Andrés Bustamante, Edgar Vivar like Mr. Silas), to which is added an appreciable novelty: Maria Becerra like the dangerous neighbor. Be careful, this does not mean that the Argentine singer has set another foot in Hollywood. The dubbing is done in Mexico City.
