Jan Ullrich in a frenzy

His drug use ultimately caused his marriage to fail. After his wife and children moved back to Germany from Mallorca, he finally fell apart: “The drugs made me a new person. A loud, extroverted asshole. And my house, where I had lived with my family just a few months ago, had become a ‘rock star hell’. People I had never seen before were coming in around the clock. Actors, artists, criminals, rockers, people from the underworld. Everyone was welcome here.”

Finally, the total crash that made headlines follows. Ullrich now describes himself as “a man who has finally found happiness in life. A man who has gone beyond all his limits to realize how beautiful it can be to be in the middle. It was a damn long and exhausting road. But it was worth it.”
