Written and directed by Eggers, Nosferatu is presented as a gothic story of obsession between a tormented young woman (Lily-Rose Depp) and the terrifying vampire (Bill Skarsgård) in love with her, causing unspeakable horror in his wake.

Other members of the star-studded cast include Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Ralph Ineson, Simon McBurney and Willem Dafoe.
Nosferatu marks Eggers’ second film for Focus Features, hot on the heels of his Viking epic The Northman, co-financed by Focus and New Regency, which grossed $70 million worldwide. Eggers produced alongside Chris Columbus and Eleanor Columbus, Jeff Robinov and John Graham. Previously, Columbus worked as EP on Eggers’ The Witch and The Lighthouse.
Universal International is handling international distribution of the new film.
Other adaptations of Nosferatu
While there have been several previous films centered on the vampire Nosferatu, the most famous would be the iconic silent film FW Murnau from 1922, a version of the novel Dracula by Bram Stoker from 1897, which has endured as a fundamental work in horror cinema. Others who followed include Nosferatu the Vampyre of Werner Herzog from 1979 and the movie Shadow of the Vampire of E. Elias Merhige in 2000, which earned Dafoe an Academy Award nomination for his performance as Max Schreckthe actor who played the role of the vampire Count Orlok in the aforementioned Murnau film.
