Was it all just a misunderstanding? A bartender supports Justin Timberlake’s statement that he only had one drink before his arrest.
Was Justin Timberlake (43) very drunk when he was arrested by the police or had he really only had one drink beforehand? A bartender at the New York hotel where the US singer had been staying before the incident said that Timberlake had really only had one drink with him before leaving the building.
He thus confirmed Timberlake’s own claim that he had only drunk “one martini.” Another hotel employee also told the paper: “If he drank more, it wasn’t here.”
Timberlake was arrested shortly after midnight on June 18, 2024 in Long Island for driving under the influence, the Sag Harbor Police Department confirmed. According to his own statement during the police interrogation, which is circulating in the media, Timberlake stated verbatim: “I had a martini and followed my friends home.” A police officer on patrol observed Timberlake ignoring a stop sign in his car. When he stopped the celebrity, the first thing he noticed was his glassy and bloodshot eyes.
Police said Timberlake smelled of alcohol
The police report continues: “His breath smelled strongly of an alcoholic beverage, he was unable to divide his attention, spoke slowly, was unsteady on his feet and performed poorly on all standardized sobriety tests.” Timberlake, who is currently on tour, is scheduled to appear in court on July 26. The court will decide how to proceed in the case.
In a statement from Justin Timberlake’s lawyer, Edward Burke Jr., “We look forward to vigorously defending Mr. Timberlake against these allegations. He will have much to say at the right time.” However, they are currently still awaiting the full indictment from the district attorney’s office.
