Pride Month 2024: These stars surprised everyone with their coming out

In June, the LGBTQ community celebrates Pride Month. Many celebrities used the month to come out personally.

Pride Month is celebrated every year in June. Parades and parties, as well as demonstrations and protests, are intended to draw attention to the concerns, problems and challenges of the LGBTQ movement. Some stars used the opportunity to come out personally. For example, “Tatort” star Jasna Fritzi Bauer (35), Meryl Streep’s (75) daughter Louisa Jacobson Gummer (33) and “Bridgerton” actress Jessica Madsen (32) announced their same-sex relationships.

“In love with a woman, loud and proud of it!”

Right at the beginning of Pride Month, Jessica Madsen surprised her followers with her coming out. The actress, who has played the role of Cressida Cowper in the Netflix hit “Bridgerton” since 2020, shared on her Instagram account. “In love with a woman, loud and proud of it!” she wrote. The Brit defines herself as bisexual.

Jasna Fritzi Bauer also made her bisexuality public in June. In an interview with “Vogue” magazine, she revealed that she has been in a relationship with artist Katharina Zorn (28) for five years and that they are raising her daughter together. After years of being in a relationship, the “Tatort” detective is finally ready to take this step and believes “that now is the time for us to move forward and make a statement.”

Coming out at 81

Bruce Joel Rubin (81) took a long time to come out. In this year’s Pride month, the screenwriter first admitted to being gay in his biography, then in an interview – and he was 81 years old. “I was never not gay. I am completely gay and I always knew it,” he emphasized to the daily newspaper. His wife has also known about his sexuality for more than 50 years. “I didn’t want to leave this world with any secrets,” the Oscar winner explained his decision to go public.

Jessica Gunning (38), on the other hand, was unaware of her sexuality for a long time, as she revealed on June 4. Only a year and a half ago, she revealed herself to her closest circle as a lesbian and has felt “liberated” since then. Despite having queer friends, the lead actress in the Netflix series “Baby Reindeer” never considered not being heterosexual herself. “It was like a huge moment when everything somehow clicked and I understood myself,” she recalled.

“Joyful new era”

For Louisa Jacobson Gummer, the daughter of Hollywood star Meryl Streep, her coming out marks the beginning of a “joyful new era”. Together with her partner Anna Blundell, she made her same-sex love public on June 22nd, which was also her mother’s 75th birthday.

The US country singer Maren Morris (34) also used Pride month to make her bisexuality public. In January, she divorced her husband Ryan Hurd (37) after five years due to irreconcilable differences. She is “happy to be the B in LGBTQ+,” she revealed to her fans in photos with the rainbow flag.

This is also the case for professional wrestler Bulk Bronson (28). He shared a photo of himself as part of Pride month. “If my coming out and living my truth helps just one other person to feel more comfortable in their own skin, then it’s all worth it,” the athlete wrote proudly on social media.
