The project is based on the South Korean sci-fi comedy Save the Green Planet!
The next feature film directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, Bugoniastarring its actors Kinds of Kindness (2024), Emma Stone and Jesse Plemonswill hit theaters in the United States on November 7, 2025.
Focus has the film in the United States, while Universal Pictures has the film written by Will Tracy overseas without Korea, which is run by CJ ENM.
What Bugonia by Yorgos Lanthimos is about
In the film, two young people obsessed with conspiracies kidnap the powerful CEO of a major company, convinced that she is an alien intent on destroying planet Earth. The project is based on the South Korean science fiction comedy Save the Green Planet!written and directed by Jang Joon-Hwan and produced by Sidus. This English version was developed by CJ ENM with Ari Aster and Lars Knudsen at Square Peg. The production has been financed by Fremantle and CJ ENM.
Producers are Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe of Element Pictures, Lanthimos, Aster and Knudsen of Square Peg, Stone of Fruit Tree and Miky Lee and Jerry Ko of CJ ENM.
Plemons recently won the Best Actor award at Cannes for Kinds of Kindness. Stone recently won the Oscar for Best Actress for Poor Things of Lanthimos. That was one of four Oscars won, including hair and makeup, production design and costume design.
Kinds of Kindness hits theaters in Argentina on August 22, 2024.
