The research is based on two large-scale data sets that included more than 35,000 people. Specifically, the scientists discovered that People with more free time tend to have higher levels of subjective well-being, but only up to a certain point. Respondents detailed all activities carried out in the last 24 hours.

In the end, an average of about two to three hours a day is probably the ideal amount of free time to meet a person’s needs, according to experts.

How much free time do you need to be happy?
The results revealed that people who had less than two hours free per day were more stressed. On the contrary, those who had more than five hours free per day also did not present the highest levels of well-being. In this sense, American researchers concluded that the ideal number of hours of leisure necessary to be happy is between two and five.
Furthermore, they confirmed that Having only 15 free minutes a day is as bad as having seven hours a day, since people who find themselves in this situation often feel overwhelmed by a lack of productivity.
