The television series Harry Potter begins to take shape. The duo Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylodwho come from working in Successionhave signed on as screenwriter and director, respectively.

This comes four months after it was revealed that Gardiner was one of three finalists to win the award to reboot the classic children’s franchise for the small screen. Gardiner beat out Tom Moran and Kathleen Jordan to win the concert.


Gardiner, who was a consulting producer on seasons three and four of the family drama directed by Brian Coxwill serve as showrunner and executive producer, while Mylod, who directed more than a dozen episodes of the show, will direct several episodes and also executive produce.
The news comes after it emerged that Harry Potter was moving from a Max original to an HBO original as part of a rethink of strategy in the streaming business. Warner Bros. DiscoveryThe series is scheduled to premiere in 2026.

Before working on the creation of Jesse Armstrong’s Succession, Gardiner was an executive producer on the HBO and BBC fantasy co-production His Dark Materials and was co-executive producer of Killing Eve from AMC. He has also written on shows like The Rook from Starz and The Man In The High Castle from Amazon.
Mylod’s other credits include Game of Thrones, The Last of Usthe Serie Minority ReportBackstrom, Shameless and Entourage.
