Sophia Thiel has been taking a break from social media for a month now. The reason for this was a relapse into a “depressive phase”.
For the second time in her successful career as an influencer, Sophia Thiel (29) has currently withdrawn from social media. Her previous post was on May 17th, around a month before she was eliminated as eighth place in this year’s “Let’s Dance” season and did not take part in the finale of the show. There is a good reason why she has withdrawn from the public eye for almost two months now, as she revealed in an interview with.
After taking part in the RTL format, she “became ill and then had an emotional breakdown. Unfortunately, I also had food binges again and fell into a depressive phase due to the loss of control.”
In retrospect, it was foreseeable that she would suffer such a relapse due to the physical and mental strain of the show, which forced her to take a break from social media for several years in 2019. She didn’t even notice it during filming. “But when I came back to Berlin, I suddenly didn’t feel well at all and I was confronted with my old demons again.”
Therapy resumed
Fortunately, Thiel reassures her fans in an interview, her current condition is “nowhere near as bad as it was in 2019”. Although she knows “that you never completely get rid of an eating disorder”, she has since learned to deal with such depressive phases better and to take the necessary steps immediately – “I immediately contacted my therapist and resumed my sessions”.
In the conversation, Thiel did not estimate how long her break would last this time. She also has not yet made any general plans for her future career: “I have no plan for the next three, four or five years, for any area of my life.”
