Kevin Costner has described the divorce from his ex-partner Christine Baumgartner as a “devastating moment”.
The ex-couple Kevin Costner (69) and Christine Baumgartner (50) have been divorced since the beginning of the year. The Hollywood star briefly hinted at how difficult the separation had apparently been for him. When asked by Gayle King (69) on the show “CBS Mornings” how he was feeling after the “very public divorce”, the actor explained: “This is a devastating moment. It is huge, it hurt.”

But he is moving forward, says Costner, who has “no other choice”: “My children are looking at me. So I can’t wilt like a daisy. I have to move forward, I have to continue to be who I am – and keep a special eye on who they are.”
He evidently paid particular attention to this during the filming of his new film series “Horizon: An American Saga”, in which Costner and his son Hayes (15) also star. Hayes is one of the three children the acting star has with Baumgartner. Even though Baumgartner had no experience, Costner believed that his son could play the role. “I was so proud of him,” he remembers. The two always went to work together and it was “a dream”. In the USA, the first film in the series will be released in cinemas on June 28th, part two will follow on August 16th. In Germany, the first part will not be shown until August 22nd, and the sequel will be released on November 7th.
Costner also has four other children from other relationships. According to US reports from May 2023, Baumgartner, whom he married in 2004, filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason. A spokesman for the actor said that Costner regretted the situation and that the circumstances that led to the filing of the divorce were beyond his control. In February 2024, he finally reported, citing available court documents, that the divorce was now final.

Apparently he is not in a new relationship yet. He recently denied rumors about an alleged relationship with singer Jewel (50): “Jewel and I are friends. We have never gone out together. I don’t want these rumors to destroy our friendship, because that is what we have.”
