Even at the age of 90, Goodall still calls tirelessly for the protection of the climate, the environment and biodiversity. She has a positive message for visitors to the Glastonbury Festival.
British primatologist Jane Goodall has called on visitors to the Glastonbury music festival not to lose heart in the face of omnipresent crises.
“We are really going through tough times all over the world,” the 90-year-old said on Friday at the legendary rock and pop festival in the southwest English county of Somerset, the PA news agency reported.
Despite the climate crisis, loss of biodiversity and wars in Gaza and Ukraine, there is reason for hope, she said. The reason for this is “the indomitable human spirit,” said the researcher, who entered the stage with a stuffed monkey and introduced herself with imitation chimpanzee noises.
Goodall praised British band Coldplay’s efforts to focus on sustainability on their tours. The group will headline this weekend’s festival alongside pop singer Dua Lipa and R&B singer SZA. The Glastonbury Festival is considered one of the largest music festivals in the world and regularly attracts more than 200,000 visitors.
