While the German world music band Bukahara is creating a great atmosphere on the main stage, the atmosphere around the festival grounds is also very relaxed. Groups are sitting together on the floor, some are playing bocce, others are wandering around the festival grounds. A group of friends from the Mühlviertel region are solving the heat problem in their own way: They are pouring water over each other. “We like it here,” says Natalie from Liebenau. “It’s cool here, but hot,” says the 22-year-old. So hot “that we’ve already lost a friend,” she says: “She’s lying in the rescue tent.”
A total of around 60,000 guests are expected at the four-day festival until Sunday. 41 bands are taking part. On Friday, 23,000 guests came and rocked with headliner Parov Stelar, and on Thursday, 13,000 rocked with the Kings of Lion.
In the beer garden, which is being opened for the first time this year, the three friends Janine, Kerstin and Michelle from Alkoven are fighting the heat with cool drinks. Kerstin was there last year: “I liked it so much that I persuaded my friends to come with me this year.” Postscript: “Even though the festival isn’t exactly cheap.” They are particularly looking forward to Montez. “We like that we have a festival like this right on our doorstep,” all three say.
