One year after his retirement: Lewis Capaldi visits Glastonbury Festival

A year after his Tourette attack on stage and the announcement of his break, Lewis Capaldi visited Glastonbury again.

Shortly after his performance at the Glastonbury Festival in June 2023, Lewis Capaldi (27) announced that he wanted to take a longer break due to problems with his mental health. The singer suffered a Tourette attack on stage at the famous festival and was unable to finish the concert. Now Capaldi is back at Worthy Farm – but only as a visitor.

“He looked so happy”

the Scottish singer was seen on the festival grounds together with fellow stars such as Oasis singer Noel Gallagher (57) and model Cara Delevingne (31).

A year after his headline performance and the subsequent announcement of his hiatus, Capaldi seems to be doing better. “Lewis looked so happy,” the Sun quoted an observer as saying. “He said how glad he was to be here and to see some of the acts over the weekend. Considering how tough his last visit to Worthy Farm was, it’s nice to see him back here.”

Lewis Capaldi suffered Tourette attack on Glastonbury stage

When the singer was battling a Tourette attack on stage last year and could no longer perform, the crowd helped him finish his song “Hold Me While You Wait.” Capaldi then thanked everyone: “I want to thank you all for coming. I was scared, but you made me feel very comfortable. Thank you very much for that.”

On June 27, 2020, he announced that he would be taking an indefinite break from touring. He wanted to “return as soon as possible,” he wrote at the time. The singer has not yet announced a return to the stage, but he released a new single, “Strangers,” in January 2024.
