Model and soap opera star Renauld White (1943-2024) has died. At the fashion designer once again spoke personally: “It is with great sadness that I report that my dearest friend and work colleague Renauld White passed away yesterday.”
White was a companion in Banks’ career from the beginning, and he even introduced him to his mother, who called White Banks’ “older brother.” The fashion designer will “always remember the barriers” that White broke during his 50-year career and “the love he shared as a trusted friend.”

In addition to acting, White became famous as a model in the 1970s. In 1979, he was only the second black model to grace the cover of the men’s magazine “GQ”. White was “a trailblazer,” said Banks. “There were very few black models at the time. He really broke barriers,” which he was proud of. During his career, White worked with top designers such as Bill Blass, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren and Donna Karan.
The model’s funeral will take place on July 12 in White’s hometown of Newark, New Jersey.
