Justin Timberlake was arrested in June for alleged drunk driving. Now the singer allowed himself to make a joke.
Justin Timberlake (43) joked about his arrest for alleged drunk driving at his concert in Boston. “Is there anyone here tonight who is driving and… no, that was just a joke,” he joked on June 29 on the stage of the TD Garden. On June 18, the singer was arrested by US police in the New York Hamptons for swerving in his BMW and ignoring a stop sign.
Timberlake’s joke caused loud laughter among the 20,000 attendees in Boston, according to the report. The artist, who is currently on his “Forget Tomorrow” world tour, then asked his audience who had attended his shows multiple times. “For everyone who is here for the first time tonight, I hope you feel the community and the love,” he continued.
Court date on 26 July
Justin Timberlake seems to be taking the current negative headlines about him in his stride. However, he still has to face trial for alleged drunk driving: his case will be heard in court on July 26. The pop star is unlikely to appear in person because of his tour – on the same day he will be performing his European concert in Krakow, Poland.
Instead, he is being represented by his lawyer Edward Burke Jr. In a statement, Burke said he looks forward to “vigorously defending Mr. Timberlake against these allegations.” He will “have a lot to say in due course.”
At his first concert after his arrest on June 21 in Chicago, Timberlake alluded to his driving under the influence of alcohol. “It’s been a rough week. I know it’s hard to love me sometimes, but you keep loving me and I love you back,” he said.
