Wimbledon opener: David Beckham brings his mom along

Wimbledon has begun and many celebrities are expected to attend again this year. David Beckham was among the visitors on the first day.

From July 1st to July 14th, one of the world’s most traditional tennis tournaments will take place again. The Wimbledon Championships, often simply called Wimbledon – like the London district – will take place in London before the eyes of numerous visitors. Usually, numerous celebrities travel to the tournament who do not want to miss the sporting spectacle. And this year, too, several stars were there on the first day.

One of the biggest stars who didn’t want to miss the opening event was David Beckham (49). The former football professional and husband of Victoria Beckham (50) was not spotted at Wimbledon with his wife, but with his mother Sandra. Pictures from the sporting event show the two of them sitting in the Royal Box, which has a limited capacity of 74 people.

Other stars on day one included the legendary British wildlife filmmaker Sir David Attenborough (98), singer Pixie Lott (33), presenter Jameela Jamil (38), singer Sir Cliff Richard (83) and his colleague James Blunt (50), who brought his wife Sofia with him. In a published excerpt, you can see how Attenborough is enthusiastically received by the audience.

The British royals are usually welcome visitors to Wimbledon – especially Princess Kate (42), who is considered a big tennis fan and is patron of the “All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club”, which hosts the championships. It is not yet officially known whether she will attend the tournament this year. The wife of Prince William (42) announced in March that she has cancer. She is undergoing treatment and has largely not attended any public events in recent weeks.
