At the end of May, Katy Karrenbauer (61) caused concern among her fans: The actress suffered a mild stroke and had to undergo surgery on her left carotid artery. 30 days later, she has now also undergone the urgently needed surgery on her right carotid artery.

“Everything will be fine”

“The operation went well and from now on there is no longer any risk of a stroke for me. I have decided for myself: everything will be fine!” she reports from the intensive care unit of a Berlin hospital. The voice actress is wearing a large plaster on her neck. She is happy that she got through the second operation well despite her great fear, she explains to the paper.

In the future, Katy Karrenbauer wants to focus more on her health after the dramatic experience. To this end, she has already reduced her smoking habits. “I was very lucky that I survived my illness because it was detected in time. I am very, very grateful for that,” explains the 61-year-old. From now on, things will “only get better” for her!

Katy Karrenbauer wants to go back to work soon

Although her first scar has now healed well, it still causes her problems from time to time. But Katy Karrenbauer has big ambitions and dreams of a quick return in front of the camera after the second operation. “All of my nerves were severed and it sometimes feels that way. But I have to get through it now because I want to go back to work soon,” she stresses.

Katy Karrenbauer, who became known in 1997 in the RTL series “Hinter Gittern – Der Frauenknast”, only noticed her stroke by chance in May. When she could no longer move her hand and forearm, she initially ignored it, she reported.

When she accompanied her father to the hospital that same day, she spoke to the doctors there about the symptoms she had noticed and was advised to undergo a more detailed examination. She reported on what happened next in the “Bild” newspaper: “I then went to my vein doctor and finally to a hospital. I hesitated at first and then went to the emergency room.” An examination lasting several hours finally revealed that she had suffered a mild stroke and needed immediate surgery.
