Actress and entrepreneur Jessica Alba has revealed that she has been in therapy with her eldest daughter for two years.
Jessica Alba (40) spoke openly about her relationship with her children in an interview with Katherine Schwarzenegger (31). Children “today want to be seen as individuals as soon as they have any kind of awareness, thoughts or opinions. I want to make sure they understand and respect boundaries, but try to see them individually and meet them where they are”, in Schwarzenegger’s Instagram series “Before, During & After Baby”.
With her eldest daughter Honor (13) she is therefore also doing therapy to avoid communication problems and “not treat her like a small child”. “We started therapy I think when she was 11 years old. I felt like my relationship with my parents had really suffered because they didn’t know how to communicate with me and how I had to be raised. ” She didn’t want to experience that with Honor, Alba continued.
Daughter Honor should find “her own voice”
Her daughter feels empowered by the therapy to “find her own voice,” says Alba. “She can speak up and has really gained confidence to say, ‘Hey, Mom, I like this, I don’t like this.” For example, her daughter asked her to spend more time alone with her, without her siblings. Alba should also not compare Honor with her younger sister Haven (9), says the entrepreneur. She is still struggling with the latter, but she has already planned more individual time for her children, Alba reveals.
Alba met the love of her life on the set of “Fantastic Four”: the producer Cash Warren (42). The two tied the knot in May 2008 and have been inseparable ever since. Their three children Honor, Haven and Hayes (3) made the family perfect.
