Danny Trejo is known as a tough guy in the movies. Now the ex-convict has lashed out in his private life.

The screen villain lets his fists play behind the camera: “From Dusk Till Dawn” star Danny Trejo (80) got into a brawl in the open street during a parade on the occasion of American Independence Day on July 4th.

The actor released video footage showing the aggressive nature and cause of the fight: During the Sunland-Tujunga Independence Day Parade in California, a passerby threw a water balloon at the Californian, who was sitting in a white vintage convertible.

Enraged, Danny Trejo jumped out of the car and stomped toward a group of people on the sidewalk. Suddenly, Trejo swung and hit the suspected perpetrator. He fought back and a hand-to-hand fight ensued. According to the footage, the situation then escalated: The film villain was knocked down, immediately got up again and, in a rage, threw a chair into the crowd.

Then someone threw another water balloon at Trejo. A squad held him back to prevent the situation from escalating again. The police were called and arrived about ten minutes later, just as the situation had dissipated. No one was arrested.

Criminal past

Danny Trejo is best known for his role as Isador “Machete” Cortez in the film “Machete”. The actor with Mexican roots spent most of the 1960s in reform schools or in Californian prisons due to various robberies and drug offenses. “Instead of putting in the effort myself and achieving something, I preferred to attack someone when I wanted something,” he said looking back. The last time the 80-year-old was in prison was in San Quentin for five years, where he survived a knife attack. A stay that changed him. Here he learned to box and won the prison championship several times. He has been married four times and has three children.
