Lupita Nyong’o on big moment: What she was afraid of at the Oscars

What goes through your mind when you win an Oscar? Lupita Nyong’o has now spoken about it.

Actress Lupita Nyong’o (41) had a lot to think about at the Oscar awards ceremony in 2014. One thing in particular was bothering her, as she has now revealed.

She didn’t want to copy Jennifer Lawrence

In an interview, she admitted how nervous she was at the gala where she was finally able to take home the coveted trophy. She was awarded Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the film “12 Years a Slave”. “I remember worrying about how much fabric I had to hold on to when I was going up the stairs. I thought to myself: ‘I can’t trip.'”

Especially since this is exactly what happened to a well-known colleague: “It happened to Jennifer Lawrence the year before, so it’s not exactly cute when you’re the second person to stumble up the stairs. That’s lame.” Lawrence (33) stumbled on the way to the stage in a lavish cream-colored haute couture dress from Dior when she won the award for best actress for “Silver Linings” in 2013.

Nyong’o reiterated that she “really just didn’t want to trip.” She continued about the moment her name was called: “I remember having this fear, and then I remember a throbbing feeling throughout my body. It was just so incredible.”
