- Place the dough in a bowl with a little oil, cover it with a damp cloth and let it rest in a warm place for 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
- Once the dough has risen, roll it out into a rectangle with a rolling pin.
- Spread the butter over two-thirds of the dough. Then fold the dough into thirds.
- Turn the dough 90 degrees and stretch it. Repeat the folding and stretching process two more times to obtain the flaky texture.
- Roll out the dough into a large rectangle and cut out elongated triangles. Once done, roll each triangle from the base to the tip to form the crescents.
- Place the croissants on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, cover with a damp cloth and let them rise for 1 more hour.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C. Finally, brush the croissants with beaten egg and cook for 20 minutes or until golden.
