Vic and Melinda Van Allen are a couple with a daughter who lives in the small town of Little Wesley, Louisiana. Their loveless marriage is held together only by a precarious arrangement whereby, to avoid the mess of divorce, Melinda is allowed to have any number of lovers as long as she does not abandon her family. Vic tells one of her lovers that she murdered her previous boyfriend.
The story of this captivating film that mixes thriller with eroticism and drama develops around several homicides in which Vic is the main target. One by one they die. At one point Melinda finds the wallet of Tony, one of her lovers, with his identification in one of the snail tanks that Vic collected, confirming Vic’s knowledge of Tony’s whereabouts. Melinda burns Tony’s identity papers, suggesting that she intends to keep Vic when she returns home.
