Cara Delevingne is a huge Spice Girls fan. But when she got the chance to ask Victoria Beckham about a band reunion, it backfired.
In 1994, 600 women came to audition in London. It was the birth of the Spice Girls, who became a successful girl group and whose members Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell, Mel B, Mel C and Victoria Beckham became world famous. In 2001, however, they announced a band break to concentrate on their solo careers. However, none of the five women managed to achieve the same level of success on their own as they did as a quintet.
In 2007, the Spice Girls went on a reunion tour, after which the band only performed as a four-piece at isolated gigs. Victoria Beckham left to concentrate on her career as a fashion designer. In an interview with a French magazine, she said: “I’m so proud of what I’ve achieved with the Spice Girls, but now it’s about empowering people through fashion and beauty. There have always been rumours about tours and performances, but that’s not going to happen. But I would like to celebrate with the girls in a different way, just me and them.”
Victoria Beckham had no desire to talk to Cara Delevingne
But the Spice Girls still have fans and followers in their original formation, one of them is the well-known model Cara Delevingne. In an interview with the “Times”, the 31-year-old revealed that she once really got on Victoria Beckham’s nerves in a Spice Girls fangirl moment.
When visiting a festival in Glastonbury, Delevingne once met Beckham and used the opportunity to ask about a Spice Girls reunion. Media reports have repeatedly said that Beckham in particular would be opposed to bringing the band back to life as a five-piece. When asked about this, Beckham reacted with massive annoyance and shouted “Please stop talking to me about it” at Delevingne.
However, there was actually a small reunion of the band recently. At Posh Spice’s 50th birthday, the Spice Girls sang a serenade as a five-piece. Beckham’s son Cruz pulled out his cell phone and posted the short clip on Instagram.
