Mourning for “General Hospital” star Doug Sheehan: The US actor has died at the age of 75.
US actor Doug Sheehan (1949-2024) has died. He received a Daytime Emmy nomination for his performance in the US series “General Hospital” (since 1963). The actor from California was 75 years old.
the Wyoming-based funeral home Kane Funeral Home announced that the actor “passed away peacefully at home on Saturday morning, June 29, 2024, in the presence of his beloved wife [Cate Albert] died”. The statement goes on to say: “The funeral ceremonies are not yet complete.” They have been “entrusted with the necessary preparations”. A cause of death was not announced.
Debut in hit series “Charlie’s Angels”
Doug Sheehan made his professional debut in 1978 in the television series “Charlie’s Angels” (1976-1981), but his breakthrough came in 1979 with the role of lawyer Joe Kelly in the popular soap opera “General Hospital”. He played this role until 1982 and received a Daytime Emmy nomination in the category “Outstanding Actor in a Supporting Role in a Daily Drama Series” for his performance in the year he left.
In 1983, he was part of the “Dallas” spin-off “Knots Landing” in the role of reporter Ben Gibson and second husband of Valene Ewing (Joan Van Ark). After the series ended in 1988, he played the role of stockbroker Brian Harper in the NBC sitcom “Day by Day”, which aired for two seasons and starred Linda Kelsey and Christopher Daniel Barness. Sheehan’s other television appearances include roles in the television series “MacGyver”, “Diagnosis Murder”, “Columbo”, “Cheers” and “Clueless”.
