Berlin director Julia von Heinz became internationally famous with her film “And Tomorrow the Whole World”. She will now be able to help decide on the main prize at the Venice Film Festival.

The Berlin director and screenwriter Julia von Heinz is part of the jury at the Venice Film Festival. This was announced by the festival’s press office. The 48-year-old is known for her film “And Tomorrow the Whole World”, which premiered in Venice in 2020. The drama tells the story of a young woman who joins an Antifa group.

The Venice Film Festival takes place from August 28 to September 7. The chairwoman of the jury that decides on the main prize, the Golden Lion, is the French actress Isabelle Huppert. The jury also includes the American director James Gray and the Polish filmmaker Agnieszka Holland.

The festival will open with the long-awaited second part of Tim Burton’s “Beetlejuice” with Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder. The American actress Sigourney Weaver will receive the Golden Lion for her lifetime achievement. The entire festival program will be announced on July 23rd.

Von Heinz will soon be releasing her film “Treasure” with Lena Dunham and Stephen Fry. The German release is on September 12th.
