The “X-Men” actress and mother of a young son has married the man who helped Olivia Munn through her most difficult times.
Four months after actress Olivia Munn (44) revealed her “terrifying” cancer diagnosis in March, she has married her greatest support: “Saturday Night Live” star John Mulaney (41). The couple married secretly over the weekend in a simple, intimate ceremony at a friend’s house in upstate New York.
The parents of two-year-old Malcom got married shortly after Munn’s birthday on July 3 in a very small circle: only a best man and their son were present. The “X-Men: Apocalypse” actress and the stand-up comedian have been officially together since 2021. Since then, they have experienced ups and downs.
First relationship hurdle: Cancer
In February 2023, Olivia Munn was diagnosed with breast cancer. She was able to speak publicly about the shock and the consequences in the spring. She talked about her double mastectomy and the reconstruction of her breasts. In total, she had four operations in ten months. In April 2024, Munn also underwent a hysterectomy to remove her uterus.
During this time, the American could only think of her then one-year-old son: “I wasn’t someone who was obsessed with death or afraid of it in any way,” she told People magazine. But “having a little baby at home made everything much more terrifying.” With a picture from her hospital bed that she shared in March, she wanted to “support others on their journey.”
Her current husband has not left her side and praised her for her strength in an interview with Vogue: “Olivia and I have been through a lot together over the last few years. Always side by side, supporting each other. And as her husband, I felt both scared and protective. Even with Malcolm on her lap and me next to him, holding her hand, she fought this illness physically on her own.”
