Her illness is no longer taboo. Violet Affleck made her “post-viral illness” public in a speech calling for more health protection.
The eldest child of Hollywood stars Ben Affleck (51) and Jennifer Garner (52) says he is suffering from a “post-viral illness”. Violet Affleck (18) made a passionate plea for more health protection in public spaces at a meeting of the Los Angeles City Council and also made her own illness public. In front of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, the 18-year-old, who covered her face with an FFP2 mask, said: “Hello, Violet Affleck, resident of Los Angeles, first-time voter, I’m 18. I caught a post-viral illness in 2019.”
She continues that she is now feeling well again, but she has learned first-hand that medicine does not always have answers to the effects of viruses that are actually harmless. The corona pandemic has made this clear once again. “One in ten infections leads to long Covid, a sometimes devastating neurological and cardiovascular disease that can rob people of the ability to work, see, move or even think,” Affleck explains in her emotional speech. This is why she is calling for, among other things, the reintroduction of the mask requirement in hospitals and other measures.
Violet Affleck wants to abolish mask bans
Among other things, she advocated for the availability of masks and emphasized the value of air filtration systems, free tests and far-UV-C light in government buildings to reduce the general viral load, for example in prisons. She also called for the abolition of some existing mask bans. These would endanger “vulnerable members of our community” and do not contribute to safety. At the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, residents regularly have the opportunity to convey their concerns to those in charge in short speeches.
Violet Affleck has been photographed wearing a mask several times in the recent past, including on the street alongside her mother Jennifer Garner. The reason for her caution has not yet been known to the public. The 18-year-old is the product of a relationship between acting stars Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner. The two married in 2005, had two more children during their marriage and separated in 2015.
