What’s worth streaming now – including the “Netflix” film “Game Night”.
What’s available to stream this week.
“Game Night” (Netflix)
Game nights can quickly get out of hand. People discuss the rules of the game or bad losers meet gloating winners. Netflix now has the perfect film for this: “Game Night”. Jan accompanies his new girlfriend Pia to one such evening. In a villa in the posh Grunewald district of Berlin, he finds himself in a tight-knit group of people who could in good conscience be described as eccentric. Pia’s ex-boyfriend and almost-fiancé Matthias turns up in the middle of it all. Now things are really getting strange. Because Matti still has feelings for his ex. And because he feels clearly superior as a dentist, he does everything he can to make the bike shop owner Jan look stupid.
Janina Uhse (“The First Name”) and Dennis Mojen (“60 Minutes”) play Pia and Jan, who have to cope with the first crisis of their young love, watched suspiciously by Jan’s friend Alex (Edin Hasanović). Anna Maria Mühe plays the rather tense hostess Karo, who is married to the fantasy fan Oliver (Axel Stein). Oliver is also the one who invited the jealous Matthias (Stephan Luca). Also on the cast are Taneshia Abt as the unhappily in love Sheila and Max Bretschneider in the role of the weird Kurt.
“3 couples, one goal” (ARD Mediathek)
A dream wedding, please! But the road to the big day is rocky and often accompanied by crises, doubts about love and disasters. The documentary series “3 Couples, One Goal” gives an insight into this exciting and thrilling time of preparation. Morin and Roman, for example, have just had their third child and are renovating their house – but they still want to get married, even though money is tight. Cansu and Sertan, on the other hand, are expecting a big Turkish wedding – with 400 guests. The situation is more serious for the third couple: Ringo was seriously ill. But he and his bride Sandra are still holding on to their dream of a beautiful celebration – now more than ever. The five episodes can be seen in the ARD Mediathek. The first season, which revolves around the desire for a child, is also available there.
“Sunny” (Apple TV+)
The American Suzie (Rashida Jones) lives in Kyoto, Japan. Her life turns into a nightmare when her husband and son disappear in a mysterious plane crash. As compensation, she is given the domestic robot Sunny, which is produced by her husband’s electronics company. Although Suzie initially resists Sunny, an unexpected bond gradually develops between the two. In their search for the grim truth behind the disappearance, they delve into a dangerous world whose existence Suzie had previously not suspected. The new mystery series is running on Apple TV+.
