Grey’s Anatomy arrives with its historic 20th season on Sony Channel

Fans of medical series have an obligatory date in Sony Channel since, next Tuesday, July 16 at 10 pm, Grey’s Anatomy presents nothing less than its 20th season. A historic mark that consolidates this history created by the gigantic Shonda Rhimes as the longest-running medical drama in American primetime.

The series also arrives very well accompanied by the premiere of the new seasons of three other dramas that grace Sony Channel’s prime time. On Monday 15th, the sixth season of The Good Doctor and the second of Fire Countryat 10 pm and 11 pm respectively. On Tuesday 16th, at the end of Grey’s Anatomydebuts the final season of its spin-off, the “hot” Station 19.

Grey’s Anatomy: Much More Than Meredith

With ten new episodes, the twentieth season of Grey’s Anatomy reinforces its legacy. Since its debut in 2005, it has been able to exploit the point where the dramatic plots of the staff of the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital in Seattle find the perfect balance with the medical narrative and the events of tragic proportions that shake the world of these characters.

The story always found ways to maintain its freshness and rhythm, even despite the changes in its main cast.

And the new batch of episodes is no exception, because it is the first time that its main character Meredith Grey, played by Ellen Pompeois no longer a regular character after his resounding exit last season. Pursuing new horizons in Boston, he will be able to work on Alzheimer’s research, which is more than a professional interest, it is his great professional cause.

Much to the relief of her legion of fans, Pompeo remains not only the series’ narrator and executive producer, but will also appear in several of the new episodes. However, even though Meredith is no longer at the center of the action, her mark lives on through her influence at the hospital and in the lives of the loved ones and colleagues she left behind.

The chapter that opens the season, titled “We’ve Only Just Begun”sets the tone for what’s to come. In it, Meredith reevaluates her future while the newest crop of residents, Simone Griffin (Alexis Floyd), Luke Adams (Niko Terbo), Mika Yasuda (Midori Francis), Jules Millin (Adelaide Kane) and Daniel “Blue” Kwan (Harry Shum Jr.); they have to deal with the consequences of their mistakes.

Also, in this new morning of the series, those who will also face new challenges – and a more prominent position as the most veteran of the program – are Dr. Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) and Dr Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr.).

With its already established style that combines emotion, medical drama and character development like no other, Grey’s Anatomy remains unchanged as a pillar of modern television. Its 20th season not only celebrates what made it a classic in full force, but also looks to the future with new stories that promise to capture the attention of audiences.

More dramas on Sony Channel

Along with Grey’s Anatomy, new seasons of three other top-tier dramas are landing to make Sony Channel’s evenings a must-see:

On Monday, July 15 at 10 p.m., the sixth season of The Good Doctor premieres, starring Freddie Highmore as Dr. Shaun Murphy, the unusual young autistic surgeon who suffers from the so-called savant syndrome.

Following the celebrations of their long-awaited wedding and his promotion to chief surgeon, Shaun and Lea (Paige Spara) encounter obstacles that will put their newly established relationship to the test. Meanwhile, the surgical team at St. Bonaventure Hospital navigates changes in their personal relationships as they face life-or-death situations.

Season 6 introduces new key characters, such as first-year residents with Dr. Danica Powell (Savannah Welch) and Dr. Daniel Perez (Brandon Larracuente). However, one of the story arcs that will spark the most interest is the arrival of Shaun and Lea’s first child.

  • Fire Country – Season 2

The acclaimed Fire Country series, starring Max Thieriot as Bode Donovan, a young convict who joins a firefighting program that returns him to his hometown in Northern California, returns to Sony Channel on Monday, July 15 at 11 p.m.

The long-awaited second season picks up from the shocking cliffhanger of the first season, with Bode in a devastating dilemma that leads him back to prison. The new episodes will explore the consequences of this step backwards in the protagonist’s story, while the firefighting team faces increasingly dangerous forest fires.

The series, which draws inspiration from Thieriot’s biographical elements, expands with the introduction of Sheriff Mickey, played by Morena Baccarin, who becomes a key plot point midway through the season.

  • Station 19 – Season 7 (FINAL)

On Tuesday, July 16 at 11 p.m., Sony Channel will kick off the seventh and final season of Station 19, a Grey’s Anatomy spin-off that follows the lives and challenges of a group of brave Seattle firefighters.

Last season left viewers with their hearts in their mouths after a dramatic collapse that cost the life of Chief Michael Dixon (Pat Healy) and left Jack (Grey Damon) in a critical situation. Andy (Jaina Lee Ortiz), promoted to team captain, must navigate the difficult responsibilities that come with her new position, while Carina (Stefania Spampinato) and Maya (Danielle Savre) embark on the adventure of adoption.

Created by the executive producers of Grey’s Anatomy, it stands out for its emotionally-focused account of the adventures of everyday heroes.
