Land of Fire celebrated the opening of the season with an event that combines tradition and culture from Tierra del Fuego with the anniversary of the Castor Hillthe largest ski resort in the province.
A new edition of the National Winter Festival took place this Saturday, July 13, at Cerro Castor, located in the Tierra Mayor Valley Natural Reserve, 26 kilometers from the city of UshuaiaResidents and tourists gathered at this complex to enjoy a day with multiple activities that highlighted the attractions offered by the station.
From noon the public attended a Masterclass of gastronomy by renowned local chefs Carlos Pulido, Nicolas Tarelli and Quique Diaz. Then a series of games, raffles and tastings of the products were held. Fuegian flavors offered by the End of the Worldalong with circus performances and the display of Ice and Snow Sculptures by local artists.

As evening fell, preparations began for the most special moment of the Festival, the traditional torchlight descent. Historic celebration
The history of this celebration dates back to the first anniversary of the Cerro Castor ski resort in July 2000. Since then, INFUETUR, together with the public and private sectors, has organized this event with the aim of promoting the southern season and all the tourist and gastronomic offerings of Land of FireThe traditions of Tierra del Fuego and the culture of winter sports became the focus of the Festival, which was finally declared of National Interest in 2023.
The interest of the community and the participation of various sectors linked to tourism activity have made this event grow, which in this edition brought together more than 6,000 people.
