US rapper Wiz Khalifa lit a joint during a performance in Romania – which immediately got him into trouble with the police.
It’s no longer a secret that Wiz Khalifa (36) likes to smoke a joint. He publicly celebrates the consumption of marijuana not only on his social media channels, but also at his performances. However, at a concert by the rapper at the “Beach, Please!” festival in Costinești, Romania last weekend, things went seriously wrong.
Arrest live on stage
Because cannabis is banned in Romania, the musician was promptly taken away by the police. Videos circulating on social media show Wiz Khalifa smoking a joint. He was then allowed to finish his set, but was subsequently arrested by officers on stage.
The musician is now free again, as he himself revealed (formerly on Twitter). “Last night’s show was incredible. I didn’t mean to be disrespectful to the country of Romania by smoking on stage,” he said on the short message service after the incident. The police treated him “very respectfully” and let him go. The cannabis lover has apparently learned from his mistake: “I’ll be back soon. But next time without a giant joint.”
More than 18 grams in his possession
Marijuana is considered a high-risk drug in Romania – consumption is just as prohibited as possession and cultivation. The Romanian Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism therefore announced that a US citizen was being investigated for illegal possession of high-risk drugs. More than 18 grams of grass were found at the police station, and another considerable amount was consumed in the form of a joint on stage.
