The Elbpromenade in Hamburg is renamed Jan-Fedder-Promenade. The official opening takes place on his birthday.
A street in Hamburg is named after the actor Jan Fedder (1955-2019, “Großstadtrevier”) who died two years ago. The Elbe promenade at the Landungsbrücken becomes the Jan-Fedder-Promenade. The official renaming is to take place on January 14th, Fedder’s birthday.
, the three street signs could already be seen for a few moments on Monday morning when workers from the district office in Mitte started to hang them up around 9 a.m.
Memorial plaque in front of the Michel
It is not the only honor that the Hanseatic city of Fedder has given. In September 2020, a brass plaque was unveiled in front of the main church of St. Michaelis Michel. In addition to a portrait of the actor, it reads “Hamburg was your territory and Michel was your anchor”.
Jan Fedder was baptized and confirmed in the church, got married there and his funeral service also took place here.
The series star died in late 2019
Jan Fedder died on December 30, 2019 at the age of 64 in his Hamburg apartment. The memorial service, personally planned by Fedder during his lifetime, took place on January 14, 2020, his 65th birthday, in Hamburg’s Michel, with great sympathy from the population. Then there was a mourning convoy through St. Pauli’s streets. Two days later, the Hamburg artist was buried in close family and friends in the Ohlsdorf cemetery.
