“We were writing the material for the live show on Tuesday night, all night long. The script reading was on Wednesday, and then they told us we had to do a digital short, so we had to write everything on Thursday night. We would go to sleep, and when we woke up we would shoot everything on Friday and edit until Saturday. So It was basically like four days a week where I didn’t sleep for seven years. I physically fell apart.“Samberg detailed of his status during the SNL years.
However, the hardest blow was his split from his bandmates from The Lonely Island: “In the last two years we did things that I am very proud of, but there is something in the songs that I can only do with Akiva and Jorm. It is like that, we are a band in that sense.”
So when the production company offered him a longer stay, the actor decided to end his relationship with SNL: “I thought that in order to regain my sense of physical and mental health I had to do it. So I did it and it was a very difficult decision. I couldn’t stand it anymore, but I didn’t want to leave.”.
