Creek Bay

Bahía Creek is a spa and a small town in the Adolfo Alsina department, in the province of Río Negro, Argentina. There the cliffs lose height and give way to a bay of clear water, bordered by soft dunes. The wide sandy beaches and the tranquility of the place attract residents of Viedma and visitors from all over the region. It is located on the north coast of the San Matías Gulf, at the beginning of it.
It is common to be surprised by the presence of fauna typical of the Patagonian coasts, especially whales and dolphins from Oviedo between the months of July to September.
Patagonia witnessed landings and shipwrecks. These shores were filled with rumors of ships stranded in the fog, of fragments of ships glimpsed at low tide, and of outsiders with foreign accents.
In this place you will find dunes, cliffs and a typical wind from the south of Argentina. It is ideal to visit it in summer because it does not suffer from the heat, it is also perfect for practicing water sports such as paddleboarding, sandboarding and paragliding thanks to its dunes and the tide that the water has.
Those who visit this beach usually stay in hotels in Viedma or Las Grutas (a destination that is very close) and arrive at Bahía Creek on a visit during the day.
As if that were not enough, in the bay you can also find incredible landscapes, such as the sunset that is worthy of a postcard and that includes the presence of animals such as sea lions and migratory birds.
To get there you have to enter the RP 1 from Viedma, travel 60 kms. of asphalt and 75 of gravel.

Bahía Bustamante is an algae town of only 40 inhabitants that is located in the province of Chubut near the town of Camarones.
There are different activities that can be done depending on the time of year, the weather and the tides.
It is a spectacular place located within a private property. Generally, those who visit it access it through tourist guides that take them to spend the day in the immaculate waters of the bay that flow into an infinite sea. This site has different options to spend a spectacular day, we mention that there are guided tours, but they also offer services such as 4 × 4 tours, on foot or by bicycle.
Navigation
This option is ideal for those who enjoy watching birds and other marine animals. You navigate through the seaweed meadows of Caleta Malaspina and you reach the Vernacci archipelago, when approaching the islands you can see sea lions, Magellanic penguins and sea birds such as cormorants and gulls. During navigation it is also possible to see dolphins and killer whales.

The Gravina Peninsula is made up of fine sand beaches and when the tide is low, pools are ideal to enjoy in summer. When the tide is low you can cross to the island where a colony of Magellanic penguins lives.
The coasts of the peninsula are ideal for traveling on foot, on horseback, by bicycle or in 4×4.
Petrified forest
30 kilometers from Bahía Bustamante is the ranch “Las Mercedes”, where you can visit the Petrified Forest “La Pirámide”. The landscape resembles a lunar desert where you walk among fossilized logs that lived 60 million years ago and have now turned into rock.
Began
Excursions are made to the seaweed harvesting areas to learn a little more about this work, the different species of algae and their properties and applications in the market. For example, from glacilaria alga agar is obtained, which is a natural gelling agent that does not require cold to solidify and is used in the food industry.
Stays
Stays in Bahía Bustamante are the must-see for those interested in enjoying a picnic and learning about the wool and sheep meat production process. August is the month of shearing so this is the ideal time to visit the estancias.
The landscape is not the only protagonist, the history of the place and its archeology are other attractions.
It can be reached by plane via Trelew or Comodoro Rivadavia and then by car or private transfer. The estancia in which the bay is located is only open from October to April.
Curious Cape
The Curious Cape is a coastal geographical feature located in the Magallanes department in the Province of Santa Cruz (Argentina), more specifically in the position (-49 ° 11 ‘-67 ° 37’).
It is located approximately 15 km north of the city of Puerto San Julián, on the north bank of the entrance to the Bay of San Julián. Cape Curioso has a steep coastline and extensive abrasion platforms made up of consolidated sedimentary deposits. This cape, together with an imaginary line with Punta Desengaño, delimits the internal sector of San Julián Bay.
The Cabo Curioso Lighthouse is located on this cape, which is an uninhabited lighthouse of the Argentine Navy that was put into service on August 1, 1922.
The area of Cabo Curioso is an important place of recreation for the inhabitants of the nearby cities, mainly Puerto San Julián. The landscape generated by the downspouts, with extensive mud and sand shoals, are ideal for walks or bathing in the pools that are formed. On the beach and its surroundings there are also sheltered places for camping, as well as fire pits.
This place is characterized by having shallow sandbanks that were placed there to improve the visitor’s experience when submerging in its idyllic waters.
Not to be missed is a visit to the Cabo Curioso Lighthouse, a historical monument that was inaugurated by the Argentine Navy on August 1, 1922.
To get there: the city is located just three kilometers from National Route No. 3, 350 km south of Caleta Olivia and 360 km north of Río Gallegos, capital of the province of Santa Cruz.
Punta Perdices

Among the classic destinations of the province of Río Negro, such as Bariloche, Las Grutas or even El Cóndor, a beach that, until very recently was unknown and only visited by locals, slipped into the national tourist agenda and some already qualify as “The Caribbean” of Patagonia.
It is Punta Perdices, about 65 kilometers from Las Grutas, east of the Río Negro province. It is located in the bay that forms between San Antonio Este and San Antonio Oeste, making it the preferred beach in the area. The closest airport is Viedma Airport.
Due to its crystalline waters and its emerald ponds, it won the title of the Argentine “Caribbean” last summer. Although there are relatively nearby places to stock up and each year it is more crowded, those who arrive should like the tranquility and the connection with the landscape. They are beaches with warm waters and away from the hustle and bustle. Ideal to rest.
In Punta Perdices, without a doubt, what you do is rest. But if you want to do some activity during the day you can choose to kayak, swim and stand up paddleboarding since it has waters with little waves. In addition, tours and boat fishing are offered and a full-day activity that includes a combination of all those options.
A complementary activity is to visit the Port Village where there are restaurants and canteens that offer a variety of fish and seafood from the area. Also visit nearby attractions such as “La Conchilla” (a spa with similar characteristics) and Punta Villarino where there is a colony of sea lions.
To get there, by plane to Viedma and if you decide to spend the night in the capital city, Viedma, you will have 180 kilometers of distance between the beaches and the city by the N3 route and then by the P1.
The Grottoes

The Atlantic coast of Rio Negro has three important and outstanding points, one for being a highly crowded tourist center, another for being a commercial maritime fishing center, and the third for constituting a fundamental support for the economic activity of Patagonia. We are talking about Las Grutas, San Antonio Oeste and Puerto San Antonio Este, respectively.
Thousands of tourists come to Las Grutas every year willing to have fun, relax and have a good time. They are attracted by its beaches with cliffs of incredible beauty and by the famous warm waters of these coasts. Its climate is semi-arid, with little rain and a temperature that in summer ranges from 14 to 30 degrees.

The town stands out for having the warmest waters on the coast of Argentina, because in the Gulf of San Matías it causes the resurgence and sunning of the waters coming from the warm currents from the north over the cold currents from the south, creating in the region of Las Grutas a microclimate with an attractive marine fauna and a very benign climate for tourism.
