The 4 indoor plants that purify the air, according to NASA
Some plants, in addition to being able to absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen through the process of photosynthesis, also offered ways to eliminate transient organic pollutants found in the air. Some of the most common are benzene, formaldehyde or trichloroethylene. Therefore, the study showed that these are the most recommended plants to have:
- Sansevieria trifasciata: From the Asparagaceae family, this plant is useful against pollutants such as benzene, formaldehyde, trichloroethylene, xylene and toluene.
- Common ivy: The ivy that we can see hanging in some homes is also effective against some pollutants, including benzene, formaldehyde, trichloroethylene, xylene and toluene.
- Gerbera jamesonii: Coming from the Asteraceae family, this plant is functional against benzene, formaldehyde and trichloroethylene.
- Chrysanthemum: Also native to the Asteraceae family, it is effective against all the toxic agents mentioned.
