Thomas Gottschalk: Presenter is “financially overrated”

Thomas Gottschalk believes he is “financially overrated” in Germany. The presenter thinks that “money doesn’t make you happy” anyway.

Thomas Gottschalk (74) is “relatively relaxed” when it comes to financial matters. He tells us this in his interview with Mike Krüger (72). The newly engaged presenter has finally realized through the “long experience that comes with a longer life” that “money doesn’t make you happy.” However, he did not explain which lessons exactly are responsible for this insight.

The reason for the conversation about money was Thomas Gottschalk’s upcoming move from Baden-Baden to Bavaria. “The furniture stores in Munich are particularly happy about that,” Mike Krüger teased. “In general, I am overestimated financially,” Gottschalk countered. “But that is a fate that I have had for a long time.”

That is why Thomas Gottschalk sued a magazine that reported on his wealth

He does not want to speak publicly about how much money the entertainer really has. Gottschalk once even sued a magazine that speculated about the wealth of him and his brother, the entrepreneur Christoph Gottschalk (71).

The reason for his complaint: “In Germany, there is nothing worse that you can accuse a celebrity of than being rich,” said Thomas Gottschalk in the podcast. In his former adopted home, the USA, this does not apply. No one there is upset that Taylor Swift (34) is a billionaire. “But if Gottschalk is a multi-millionaire, then there will be a lot of groaning and moaning from everyone who would also like to be a millionaire but unfortunately isn’t.”

Mike Krüger criticized lists like those of Forbes magazine, which regularly list the richest Germans. The comedian has many friends who appear on such lists. They don’t like that at all, because they can no longer leave the house without bodyguards.

At least Gottschalk admitted in the podcast that he and Mike Krüger lead “a privileged and prominent life.” Even if the two superstars don’t make it onto any “Forbes” list. But Gottschalk only said that in the context that, as a celebrity, he finds such lists interesting for comparison with other stars.
