On Wednesday evening, Taylor Swift delighted her fans in Gelsenkirchen. Before the show, however, a stalker had to be taken into custody.
Taylor Swift (34) is stopping off in Germany. After the first “The Eras” concert in this country on Wednesday evening (July 17) in Gelsenkirchen, the police have taken stock. Overall, the US singer’s show in the Veltins Arena was “a peaceful event” at which the approximately 60,000 visitors “sang, danced and celebrated,” according to a statement dated July 18. But there was an incident before the concert.
“Following information from the event management, the police took a stalker into custody prior to the concert,” says the Gelsenkirchen police report. There had previously been threats against the singer. The police did not provide any further information.
Difficult arrival
In their assessment, the police also included the traffic jams that had formed around the arena on the afternoon before the concert. “Accidents on the A2 had made it difficult for many fans to get there beforehand,” they explained. “There was increased traffic around the arena at times, but this is normal for events of this size.” After there were traffic jams in both directions on the A2 around Gelsenkirchen in the afternoon, the police recommended three alternative routes via social media to get to the concert location in “Swiftkirchen”.
Apparently, fans had to bring a little more time with them after the concert. “Due to a police operation in the area around the arena, there are currently traffic delays when leaving the Taylor Swift concert. We ask for your patience,” said a police post.
Taylor Swift will be appearing at the Schalke Arena for three concerts in total – the next two dates are this Thursday (July 18) and Friday (July 19). After that, she will be heading to Hamburg for concerts on July 23 and 24 and to Munich for shows on July 27 and 28.
