Donald Trump (78), the 45th President of the United States of America, wants to be re-elected as head of state of the USA in 2024. As part of the Republican Party Convention, the “Grand Old Party” is apparently trying to present the entrepreneur and politician in the most approachable way possible. Kai Trump (17), the eldest granddaughter of the ex-president, gave a speech on stage in which she painted the picture of an allegedly loving grandfather.
Golfer and granddaughter of a “normal grandfather” gives first speech
“Hello everyone, my name is Kai Madison Trump. I am the granddaughter of Donald Trump,” which was also broadcast on US TV. Kai was born in May 2007 and is the eldest daughter of Donald Trump Jr. (46) and his former wife Vanessa Trump (46), who have been divorced since 2018. She has four siblings: Donald John, Tristan Milos, Spencer Frederick and Chloe Sophia.
Around nine months ago, the now 17-year-old announced that she was thinking about becoming a professional golfer. She reportedly showed an interest in golf when she was just two years old. On Instagram, where she also mainly shares golf content, Kai Trump already has more than 165,000 followers. In March, she posted a photo of herself with her grandfather Donald after she had, according to her, won a golf tournament.
In what her father said was her first public speech on stage, Kai explained that she was speaking there “to share the side of my grandfather that people don’t often see. To me, he’s just a normal grandpa.” Donald Trump always gives her and the other grandchildren candy when their parents aren’t looking – and he always wants to know how things are going at school.
She insists she is a Trump
In her white evening dress, the young Trump made it unmistakably clear that she is exactly that: a Trump. When she’s golfing, she doesn’t let him drive her crazy, which always surprises him: “But I have to remind him that I’m a Trump too.” Her grandfather is “a great inspiration” and she loves him. The media allegedly portrays the ex-president in a false light, but she knows the real Trump: “He is very caring and loving.” And of course the controversial politician only wants the best for the USA.
As expected, the reactions to the appearance were very mixed. While some on the social media platform X saw the appearance as a highlight of the US Republican Party Convention and wrote of a touching speech, others were mocked. Some people bet that Trump doesn’t even know the name or birthday of his granddaughter. Another user was of the opinion that the face of Kai Trump seen on television was that of a person desperately trying to say “Help me”.
